1. Immersion in surrealism
Hylics -This is an indie-RPG that breaks the perception templates of video games. She seemed to come to us from a dream in which logic does not matter, and aesthetics are more important than meaning. From the first minutes it becomes clear - before us is something unique.

The visual style of the game is plasticine animation, collages and abstraction, embodied by hand. Each screen is like a picture of a contemporary artist. This approach causes light confusion, but also attracts the eye, not allowing to break away.

3. Minimalism of the narrative
The plot in Hylics is not told in the usual way. It is transmitted by hints, atmosphere and phrases generated by randomly. Instead of a direct story, a mysterious stream of characters and images in which the player himself seeks meaning.

4. Gameplay on the verge of sleep
From the point of view, the mechanic is in front of us classical jrpg: step -by -step battles, pumping, inventory. But everything was fed through a distorted prism. There are not swords and magic, but “meat” and “brain wave”. Even death is not a defeat, but a transformation.

5. Hero similar to a symbol
The main character - Wayne - looks like a humanoid with a TV instead of a head. His path is absurd, but at the same time exalted. He is silent, like the game itself, but all its existence is permeated with a strange significance.

6. Battles as a ritual
The combat system is simple, but thanks to the visual feed, it becomes almost ritual. Instead of the usual effects - a kaleidoscope of movements, color outbreaks and shapes, as if you were in a trance. Each attack is more than just an action.

7. Music outside genres
Hylics soundtrack is a hypnotic mix of Lowe, an emboss and glychet textures. Music does not serve as a background, it is part of the body of the game. She breathes, vibrates, enhances the feeling of being outside reality.

8. The world where absurd
The locations of the game are not just places, but fragments of dreams. There is no familiar structure: instead of cities - abstract forms, instead of NPS - philosophizing entities. Journey through the Hylics world is an inner adventure, not external.

NPC texts and descriptions in the game are often built of random words. This resembles the poetry of the Dadaists or the automatic letter of surrealists. In this madness, a new form of beauty suddenly appears - useless, but attractive.

10. Duration as a dignity
Hylics does not require tens of hours. For several evenings, you can explore the whole world. And this works for the benefit: the game does not have time to get bored and leaves a feeling of incredited, as if you woke up in the middle of sleep.

After the release, Hylics became a cult in circles of connoisseurs of unusual. She inspired fan arts, discussions and the appearance of continuation- Hylics 2 Where the ideas were even wider, but the spirit of the original remained.
